For two months, I'm on a solo backpacking adventure through the uncharted wilds of Europe. This is the place where you can read about how many times I've lost my luggage (hopefully none) and how much deep insight I've gained into humanity and myself (hopefully a bunch).

What I've Been Eating
- lobster-flavored potato chips
- so... much... gnocchi...
- quorn chik'n patty with wensleydale and blueberries
- brie, grape, and cranberry sandwich
- I never really liked yogurt until I came to Europe
- brie, swiss, hard-boiled eggs, and tartar sauce on whole wheat bread (I literally almost vomited)
- 'greek pita': bread wrapped around sauerkraut, feta, olives, corn, and pickles then submerged in tartar sauce
- pierogies!
- lavendar-flavored latte
- apple and brie quesadilla
- nutella!nutella!nutella!nutella!
- fried camembert with potatoes and tartar sauce
- bionade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- manioc fries with peanut sauce
- once-crispy french fries drowned in approximately three liters of mayonnaise
- a $10 coffee (by accident)
- curry and cardamom pudding at midnight on Air India

Lessons Learned
- used English-language bookstores are in practically every city and are good for buying cheap books and exchanging your old ones
- Day/month/week metro passes aren't always better. Do the math first.
- In Poland, take out less money than you think you'll need because it takes forever to spend it. In Prague, do the exact opposite.
- if you can avoid night trains, do
- when buying stamps for postcards, specify that it's going to the U.S.
- bring a coat, even in the summer
- exploring the meat section of a local supermarket will provide you with handy vocabulary for figuring out if food is vegetarian
- make sure you understand how a country's currency works before you start spending it
- don't put your train tickets in a "safe place" unless that safe place is actually in your luggage

I thought you were going to say Nutella which would have produced a guilty smile...this just confuses me. Do they use real chicken, or just a chicken-like flavoring???
I eat meat and I totally wouldn't eat those. Ew.
Also, I just remembered to catch up on your travel blog and it sounds like you've been having some excitement. La langue française est très belle et j'espère que tu t'amuses bien!
Lauren, I actually support Europe's obsession with Nutella although I don't think it's entirely warranted. I mean nutella's good but is it really good enough to justify an entire aisle dedicated to it in the grocery store? And does it really need to be put on everything? These are questions that I urge Europeans to ask themselves someday. Then again, it could be argued that we have a similar obsession with peanut butter which most Europeans seem to detest as much as we detest marmite. That's weird that I used the word 'detest', I think it's because I've been saying j'deteste all week in class.
I haven't gotten close enough to the potato chip bags to check the ingredients but they've sold them in every single country that I've been to, I think (maybe not Germany?). The reason that I know they're roasted chicken, by the way, is because they have an EXTREMELY LIFE-LIKE PICTURE of a roasted chicken on the front. They may actually be delicious but that picture terrifies me. In eastern europe, they also had ham-flavored chips and something that looked like it might be roast beef.
